PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS
The choice between speed and capacity is over. Choose both.
Traditionally, SSDs have offered powerful speeds and extra features, but at a high cost per gigabyte. Enter the Crucial MX100 SSD. Leveraging years of R&D and the latest NAND technology, the Crucial MX100 offers a low cost per GB, combined with unrelenting performance and one of the most complete feature sets available.
Micron quality - a higher level of reliability.
As a brand of Micron, one of the largest flash storage manufacturers in the world, the Crucial MX100 is backed by the same quality and innovation that has produced some of the world's most advanced memory and storage technologies. With over a thousand hours of prerelease validation testing and hundreds of SSD qualification tests, the Crucial MX100 has been thoroughly tried, tested, and proven. Make the switch to the Crucial MX100 SSD and start outlasting and outperforming your hard drive.
Feature-packed capacity. Proven reliability.
The Crucial MX100 provides plenty of cost-effective storage for your photos, music, videos, and documents - all while backing your data with a higher level of reliability than a hard drive or competing SSD. Note:1 GB = 1 billion bytes. Actual usable capacity may vary.
Run your system longer than ever before - using less power.
With Extreme Energy Efficiency technology, the Crucial MX100 is up to 89% more energy efficient than a typical hard drive. * * Hard drive active average power use based on published specs of 1TB Western Digital Blue WD10JPVX internal hard drive. According to NPD data published February 2014, this was one of the most popular hard drives available and an accurate reflection of a common internal hard drive.
Keep your memories, photos, and files safe.
When a photo or file gets corrupted, it often becomes unusable. Prevent this from happening in the first place with the Crucial MX100 SSD, which arms every storage component with four layers of Exclusive Data Defense to guard against corrupt files.
Do more - faster.
Get true 550 MB/s sequential reads on both compressible and incompressible data - and leave your old 177 MB/s hard drive in the dust. ** **Performance level based on comparative AS SSD benchmark ratings of 512GB Crucial MX100 SSD and 1TB Western Digital Blue 7200 RPM hard drive (WD10EZEX-00U). Actual performance levels may vary based on benchmark used and individual system configuration. Test setup: Intel DZ87KLT-75K motherboard, Intel i7-4770K 3.50GHz processor, BIOS Rev. 0446, and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit operating system using AS SSD test suite.
Attain consistently fast speeds without compromising the reliability of your data.
Our engineers created RAIN technology to protect your data at the component level, similar to how RAID is used with multiple hard drives. This enterprise-class technology increases the security and protection of your data to a level that's rarely available in consumer-class SSDs.
Push your drive to the limit and avoid overheating.
Adaptive Thermal Protection technology enables the Crucial MX100 to dynamically adjust storage component activity based on how you're using the drive, allowing your system to stay cool and react to changes in use.
Save and transfer files in seconds rather than minutes.
Our exclusive Native Write Acceleration technology spreads the drive's workload across several elements, enabling you to write data in seconds rather than minutes.

Received my MX100 512GB today and swapped it into my 2009 MBP and put the existing 256 GB 5400 RPM hard drive into an external case. Cloned over the hard drive, enabled full disk encryption, and moved on without any issues so far. Granted it has only been a few hours, but I can see the difference immediately. My 5 year old machine has new life. Bootup went from 3 minutes to 7 seconds. I tend to keep multiple tabs open on my web browser and it definitely is moving faster. I could tell on my old hard drive that I was spending lots of time paging to the disk (even with 8GB of RAM).
Also, some may say the MX100 does not provide top-of-the-line service. I say that is not needed for average users. The price vs. performance equation must favors the MX100. Also, at least on my machine, my SATA bus can only max out at 3 gbps, so no to pay for performance I won't be able to utilize. Also, this likely is another speed bump to my machine since the original HD had a link speed of 1.5 gobs.
I am looking forward to my machine continuing to "hold its own" against modern system. Definitely worth the cost to move to SSD and I won't ever be back to a traditional HD.

Hard to go wrong with a 256gb drive for $110... in July 2012 I paid $180 for a 256gb m4 drive (was a good deal then).
The standard of SSD's is better every year, and this model is representative of that!
If you are still living in the spinning disk world, you will be amazed at the improvements this drive will make to your system!
I attached an image of disk read/write speeds on my Hackintosh system, 328 MB/s write and 511 MB/s read. Pretty solid drive!
(Running the same test with Blackmagic speedtest, my hard disks (for backups and storage) get speeds of 60 MB/s write and 60 MB/s read. I think the numbers speak for themselves.)

I just received the drive today and installed it into my HP Elitebook 8740w, and am very pleased with this purchase.
My laptop boots to a usable state in <12 seconds. My Windows Experience score for my HDD went from 5.9 (using the stock 160gb drive) to 7.7!
I'm running Windows 7 Pro, and it is noticeably faster.
I also used the enclosed license for Acronis True Image HD to clone the O/S from the factory drive, which was a great addition and saved me the time that I had alotted for re-install of W7. This makes me happy, and gets me to doing other things more quickly. I like products that same me time and/or aggravation.
I definitely recommend this drive. I'm already thinking about picking up one for my wife's desktop.
